Rotato renders anything from crisp ultra high definition 4K images and videos for Youtube and Vimeo, to lean and light 720p, perfect for email and the mobile web.

Snapshots

  • Go to Rotato > Preferences
  • Change the Snapshot Resolution

All snapshots from now on will be using the resolution you selected, in old, current and new projects.

Movies

  • Add at least one keyframe to the timeline. See how.
  • Click Render Movie... in the toolbar
  • Choose Advanced and change the Resolution

The setting will be saved along with your current document. New documents will use the default resolution.

App Store screenshots

These screenshots have a predefined resolution, following Apple's rules for App Store screenshots, so there is no way to change their sizes.

PNG sequences

  • Add at least one keyframe to the timeline. See how.
  • Click Render Movie... in the toolbar
  • Choose PNG sequence
  • Choose Advanced and change the Resolution

Web animations

  • Add at least one keyframe to the timeline. See how.
  • Click Render Movie... in the toolbar
  • Choose Web
  • Choose Advanced and change the Resolution

Note that the default resolution for web animations is lower than than one for movies. This is because your web visitors will download the entire animation in one go, unlike videos that typically use partial buffering or streaming. On the flip side, users will experience no delay after the video has been loaded. A good target size for a web animation is around 5Mb. Try and keep it less than 10Mb.
